’The Complejo Cultural Fábrica Imbabura, located in Atuntaqui, Ecuador, has a rich history dating back to its establishment as a textile factory on May 6, 1924. This cultural complex now serves as a museum, showcasing its collection of machinery, photographs, and rooms that tell the story of its past. It was once the most important textile development center in northern Ecuador, providing livelihoods for hundreds of families in the Antonio Ante canton.
The Complejo Cultural Fábrica Imbabura played a significant role in the development of the textile industry in the Imbabura area. Initially, it produced threads and fabrics, but over time, the factory professionalized and conquered the national market. The sound of the factory’s siren marked the start of classes in schools and colleges, and the workers’ machines not only wove the development of the canton but also of the province.’
